A couple of times a year, I lead a writing retreat for a very limited number (6) of writers at an architecturally stunning (and secluded) home in Big Sur. Because of the intimacy of the venue - and the shared accommodation - this retreat is open to women writers only.

The Big Sur writing retreat is designed to give writers plenty of uninterrupted time to devote to their projects...whether it's brainstorming, researching, or writing.
​
To keep writers focused on their work, all meals (except for breakfast) are provided. Lunches and dinners are organic, vegetarian, and homemade...because it's always easier to write when you're feeling well-fed and pampered.
​
This is a very popular retreat, generally it sells out within 48 hours.

The accommodations
This gorgeous modern home is the family retreat of dear friends of mine. It is located in a beautiful, and very private canyon just north of the dramatic Big Sur coastline.
​
The house has fabulous writing juju! It is situated next door to Lawrence Ferlinghetti's property--and the rustic cabin where Jack Kerouac wrote the book 'Big Sur.'
​
There is a spectacular 15 - 20 minute walk from the house (through woods and over the creek) to a secluded beach.
​
Retreat participants are housed in either the Red Bedroom (one full and one twin bed) or the Dorm (four twin beds). (Accommodations are by request, first come-first served.) The house has two full baths, which are shared.
​
There is also a Japanese-style soaking tub, perfect for nighttime star gazing.
​

Pricing/what's included
$545 per person
​
All accommodations are shared, and are the same price. Beds/rooms are assigned by request and are first-come, first-served.
​
Price includes lunch Monday through Thursday, as well as dinner on Monday and Tuesday. (We'll head out Wednesday night for a sunset drink and a celebratory dinner at a fabulous Big Sur restaurant. Coffee & tea will be available at all times.
Participants are welcome to bring their own breakfast/snacks/wine

Price also includes a feedback session and the opportunity to ask questions each evening.

Writers will rise on their schedule and prepare their own breakfast. All the common areas of the house (including the outdoor decks) are available for working, and we generally schedule a morning 'quiet time.'
Lunch will be serve yourself from a steaming pot of homemade soup and an assortment of accompaniments.

Toward the end of the day, we'll gather for a walk to the beach (and perhaps a sunset glass of wine.)
​
Homemade dinner will be served to everyone in the dining room. All food at the retreat is organic and vegetarian.
​
Afterward, we'll sip wine, and share the day's writing. This will be a perfect opportunity to get feedback and ask all your writing and publishing questions.

There's nothing like a walk to the beach to clear your head after writing...or for working on that knotty plot problem. Writers can enjoy this walk at any time during the retreat.
