ABOUT ME

Passionate About Helping Writers

Ever since I published my first book (a memoir) in 2001, I've been committed to helping other writers get their books out into the world.

For the past 20 years, I've been teaching private and public writing classes. I created the successful classes program at the San Francisco Writers Grotto and curated it for 5 years. Currently, I teach in my home, at Book Passage in Corte Madera, and at Esalen in Big Sur.

(And I don't always get to write on a houseboat in India...)

In 2012, I founded Lit Camp, a juried writers conference. I gathered together Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winning authors, as well as New York agents and editors--to help teach and inspire the 40 aspiring writers accepted each year. Many of Lit Camp's alumni have gone on to publish with major houses.

I am currently working on developing an online community for writers. Called Creative Caffeine Daily, it will help motivate writers by using daily prompts and weekly partners.

Writing is a practice. The more you do it, the better you get at it. And sometimes you need an ally. Someone to encourage, cajole, and even nag you into sitting down at the computer. Someone who can talk through your plot problems and your character dilemmas. Someone with years of publishing experience to help you get your book out into the world. Let's see what we can accomplish together!
